Twilight Eclipse Breaks Records

If there’s one thing that we’ve learned through empirical studies, you can’t keep teenagers away from movie theaters. So when a franchise comes around that panders to them, hold onto your hats.

You’re going to get loaded up with them. Screaming, panting teenagers, who have no idea why they’re screaming and panting. Isn’t it weird? You could’ve replaced Twilight with any number of cardboard cutout made-to-order product marketed to teens, you would’ve still made close to a billion dollars. Where is this going? Twilight Eclipse has surpassed the midnight record for a movie, grossing over 30 million dollars overnight. I’d ask which of you liked it, but it’d be the equivalent of polling Manolith readers to find out which ones are virgins.

In order to rake in as much as cash as possible, Twilight : Eclipse broke Iron Man Two’s record of wide distribution, playing in 4,416 locations – Iron Man Two played in 4,380 locations.

There’s a silver-lining, though. Despite all of Twilight’s fandom, consistent assault of the media and entertainment magazines – New Moon still hasn’t broken 300 million dollars domestically, despite setting opening records. So you can expect a big box-office drop-off because apparently half-assed acting, poor adaptations and roided teenagers don’t make for repeat business. Even though it seems like a sure-fire thing.

Metacritic on the other hand give a rating of 58/100 for the Twilight Saga: Eclipsed based on 27 reviews. Another positive review came from The Hollywood Reporter which basically said that the movie nailed it.

Morris from the Boston Globe stated, “If the first two movies were “get a room,” part three is “get a therapist”. He said the second and third film “repeat that discovery [in Twilight] without truly deepening it…the movies are interesting without ever being good.

Other reviews basically gave really a 50% to less than 50% approval of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. This rating is even shared by its predecessors. One of the perhaps more eye catching critic about Twilight Saga is that the film had always been “too chatty and too long.” There had been some true action and true climatic scenes missing.

With that we are sure that fans will still be pleased. Now ladies and gentlemen we leave you with a trailer from Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
