The premiere of season three of the Real Housewives of New Jersey airs tonight on Bravo, and fans of the hit reality show don’t have to wait long for drama to explode. A full-on brawl actually breaks out during new Housewife Melissa Gorga and her husband Joe’s christening party for their son after they have a nasty spat with Teresa Guidice, Joe’s sister.
“It breaks my heart,” Teresa told MSNBC of the drama that plagues her family this season.” “That’s why you’re going to see a totally different side of me this season. It’s really sad. I cry a lot on the show and it’s very hard for me.”
Teresa maintains that she welcomed Melissa with open arms to the family and asked her to be her daughter Gabriella’s godmother.
“I was really happy for them,” she shared. “I wanted him to get married so bad. That was his third fiance, so we just wanted him to get married. We always said we wanted our kids to grow up together. And I really wanted her to become the sister I never had.”
But according to Melissa, even though Teresa was a bridesmaid at their wedding, their relationship was strained soon after.
“My sister in-law never said my house was beautiful,” Melissa said of the mansion Joe, a contractor, built for her. “As Joe and I built his business together, their relationship started to diminish and my relationship with Teresa started to get competitive. But you know what — I’m a wife, I’m a mommy and that is what I do best.”
Teresa was upset that no one from her family contacted her when it was announced that they joined the Housewives cast — her cousin Kathy Wakile is also joining the ladies this season.
