NCAA Final Four: Basketball Royalty, but Their line of Football?

Basketball and football excellence is rarely associated in the sports college - at least in the same academic year - and the teams playing in the NCAA final four on Saturday in New Orleans is no exception.

Only one of the basketball program, "football school." And at school, and the fans know, not Kentucky, Kansas and Louisville, but the state of Ohio. However, last fall, residents of Ohio has become one of the poorest seasons for many years. Their overall 6-7 (3-5 in Big Ten Conference) came after two scandals involving the football team, which led to the suspension of key players and the resignation under pressure from head coach Jim Tressel.

This University of Florida. Gators turned the trick during the 2006 season football and basketball season that immediately after, when Yoakim Noah and some of his gifted assistants resisted the temptation to turn pro early and left to provide the title of basketball the second consecutive year at the end of the 2006-07 season.

If the school has been a great opportunity for interaction between the basketball and football, it was during the reign of basketball coach UCLA Bruins in the incredible John Wooden, when the team won 10 championships in a few decades since 1964.

As for other schools in this year's Final Four:

Louisville went unclassified football in the school year in which he won two championships NCAA Basketball, 1980 and 1986.

Kansas failed a little bit better. Prior to the victory in his last three NCAA basketball titles in 2008, the Jayhawk football team published a number 7 ranking in final AP poll in 2007.

Kentucky has won seven national championships in basketball, which ranks second in Los Angeles. Although it is often overshadowed by the football program as a rule, well, what's going on in the woods, Wildcats were highly appreciated in football twice a prelude to basketball in 1951 and 1978, finishing with number 7 and 6, respectively, in the final poll AP. The first of these football teams was the coach Bear Bryant, one of the legends of the game, which reached its greatest popularity in the state of Alabama.
