Phoenix Coyotes winger Raffi Torres was suspended for an indefinite period, until his hearing on Friday hit on Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarter of the series Tuesday, the league announced.
This means that Torres will miss at least four games on Thursday.
A hearing was scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed at the request of Torres. He will be summoned to a new office NHL York. Meeting in person may result in suspension of more than five games.
Torres seemed to jump into the shot at 11:51 of the first period, dropping his shoulders against the head of Hossa, who had the puck more. NHL is trying to protect players from concussions, cracked from blows to the head.
No penalty was called on Torres and Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville judging the priest called "a disgrace".
Hossa has been immobilized, held off the ice on a stretcher and taken to a hospital and released later on Tuesday evening.
"It was a brutal success", Quenneville said Tuesday. "I saw what happened, and he was right in front of me. All four guys have missed. It was hard. Evening was ashamed to arbitration."
Quenneville faces a fine for his comments about officiating.
Success has caused intense reaction Blackhawks fan. Coyotes broadcaster Tyson Nash, who played for Quenneville in St. Louis Blues, said: "waddle and Silvy show" Friday on ESPN in 1000, he received death threats for calling yourself a hit game.
Nash declined to comment after watching the replays over the incident.
He was filled with a number of violent incidents, fights and suspensions. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews said Tuesday he does not know what discipline Torres can get.
"Who knows?" Toews said. "I do not know what to expect more. I do not think anyone does. Thus, we see will probably be a surprise, I think. We have four (judges) there. When you have guys get carried away on a stretcher, do you think may be something wrong with what happened. "
