Several truck drivers witnessed the accident at the Queen Ka'ahumanu road. Damien July Kona Transportation was one of the first people on the scene after the fall Friday morning two vehicles. He says no one knew when one of the three victims was Colt Brennan.
Julio went to Kona Makalawena park near the beach just after 9:30 Friday morning when he noticed an accident ahead.
"It was a kind of smoke and on the road," said Julius. "If a car overturned on the lava field and then there was an SUV on its side. We had to use our trucks our extinguishers to douse the flames species small vehicles."
Waikoloa Women age 47 years in tourism was not moving. He says a man was still inside a Toyota van. A woman was outside screaming for help.
"He was stuck, it was kind of stuck. He was trying to crawl and I was trying to say just to stay, yes, basically put," said Julius.
At the time he did not know it was Colt Brennan.
"The way it was placed under the car I saw the head and I heard him screaming and I was trying to put the towel because he was not bleeding, it does come," said Julius. "There was a small crack, I would say about a foot that was trying to get your head just could equip it, but it moved, was trying to leave the car."
July says another driver was following Brennan SUV, heading southbound.
"He was right on the back of Colt and saw them lose control and crossed over to the lady," said Julius.
While other witnesses calm Brennan girlfriend of 27 years old Shakti Stream, Julio call forwarding and police helped control traffic. He says the victim is 47 years old, was air lifted from the road north of Hawaii Community Hospital and then transported to the Queen's Medical Center.
The 27-year-old Brennan and his girlfriend were initially taken to Kona Community Hospital in serious condition. Brennan was later moved to Oahu in air ambulance with serious head and back injuries. Was taken after doctors in the afternoon the Queen's Centre Friday.
"When everyone found out, none of us here, as the type of work and wow what? You know, because shooting is a hero who is known to us," said Julius.
Brennan friend Shakti Stream is the Big Island. His friends say he often spends time in Kona, when back in Hawaii.
