5.1 Magnitude Puerto Rico Earthquake

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake Puerto Rico on Friday, rattling residents but causing no immediate reports of damage.

U.S. Geological Survey said the quake, which occurred at 7:43 pm (18:43 ET), hit about 15 miles (25 kilometers) south of San Juan. It was about 64 kilometers deep, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

An official of the Federal Aviation Administration said the San Juan International Airport was open and functioning normally.

"It lasted about 30 seconds and was felt strongly. Some guests got a little scary, " Venus said Snow, an employee at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino. He said nothing and broke all the guests were good.
