Authorities say two students were killed yesterday morning in a high school in Los Angeles. One person has been arrested.
Police believe the gunman, a black man with black clothes, is a student at Gardena High School, the school where the shooting occurred.
Police said a bullet apparently was fired accidentally hit a 15-year-old in the neck and a 15-year-old in the head. The girl is in surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, police said.
Sources reportedly told the Los Angeles Times that after the gun fired, the student who brought it to school apologized to her classmates before you run out of the classroom.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Unified School District have told local media that the shooting was accidental. District spokesman Robert Alaniz said the gun was taken to school in a backpack and when the student was dropped - wounding the two victims with a single bullet.
Police officers, however, say they are skeptical that the bill and say the shooting is currently under investigation.
The victims were treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital. One of the victims was in critical condition and another in critical condition, according to firefighters.
Lt. Steve Prendergast, the Gardena Police Department, said a teacher called 911 at 10:41 local time and local police response. The investigation has been handed over to the LAPD, as the school is located in the city of Los Angeles.
A handful of desperate parents rushed to the school after hearing about the shooting on the news. He paced nervously as they waited behind police tapes of the word of their children.
"I've never heard of anything like this before," said Thomas Hill, whose 16-year-old and 18 years of age children attend school. "You will be fighting among children, but never this."
Armando Perez, whose 15-year-old son of Richard, was at school, he said. "I just want to know what is happening"
A mother waiting to hear from her 14 year old son, Michael, said the school has a reputation for gang violence. Lupe Contreras said he has been trying to get her son out of school.
