Mass. Gov,Mass Governer Presses on with probation-parole merger,in his press Patrick said he'll figure the cost savings from the merger into his proposed fiscal year 2012 budget plan to be unveiled Wednesday. Patrick said the estimated $14 million in savings can be used to help plug a $1.5 billion spending gap.

Patrick renewed his call for the merger after a report commissioned by the Supreme Judicial Court in November found abuses in the probation department's hiring and promotion processes.
