David Nelson, the last survivor of the family of Nelson appears on the popular television sitcom of the 50's "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet"has died, Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday. He was 74.
The actor died Tuesday at his home in Century City on the Westside of Los Angeles from complications of colon cancer, her publicist Dale Olson told The Los Angeles Times.
He was the last survivor of the Nelson family, including actor and bandleader Ozzie, his singing wife, Harriet Hilliard, and his younger brother teen idol, Rick.
The actor, along with her parents and her teenage brother, portrayed the daily life of a typical family of America and won acclaim from audiences around the country. The show, which is based on a 1952 radio piece titled "Here Come the Nelsons" ran for 320 episodes from 1952 to 1966 on ABC. Later he also directed some episodes.
Apart from the small screen, Nelson also played in such films as "The Big Circus, " "Day of the illegal" and "Cry-Baby. "
In 2006, Nelson was nominated for a TV Land Award for "Ozzie and Harriet. " He was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
