As speculation surrounding the iPhone, Verizon reached a fevered pitch, the Wall Street Journal announced with confidence that the company has finally landed the Apple iPhone.
The report said the new agreement "upset the balance of power in the industry, ending his rival Verizon to AT & T Inc. 's exclusive hold on the device and leaving smaller operators such as Sprint Nextel Corp. and T-Mobile U.S. compared to two well-capitalized competitors offering most popular smartphones in the world. "
Citing "people familiar with the matter," the report said that while "it was not immediately clear if the version you have devices in their stores," the company will announce the details in his press conference scheduled for next Tuesday in New York.
He said the device "would be similar to existing iPhone 4, but run on the company's CDMA technology." Verizon made a big splash at CES about its "4G" LTE deployment plans, but the new network will not be available for voice calls until 2012.
