The webosphere hip hop is full of rumors that WorldStarHipHop.com, one of the busiest websites in the world, has closed, possibly another site seized by the Department of Homeland Security, which recently dealt a death blow to many websites as part of an ongoing attack on copyright infringement.
WorldStarHipHop.com has gained in popularity in recent years as one of the most comprehensive aggregation sites for video on the web. Music videos, news videos and footage proposed user re-submitting all helped make the site almost daily destination for millions of visitors to the web.
In an interesting twist at the end of course, hip hop mogul 50 Cent initially claimed some responsibility for the event, perhaps in retaliation for an earlier complaint demand, where 50 Cent said the site used his image without permission. Shortly after WSHH went offline, 50 Cent twittered, "I put WorldStar to bed, do not think I'm going to try to shut your shit down. Lol, this according to Newson. In the afternoon, spoke to Hot 97, Angie Martinez saying, "They are putting to bed as we speak, but turned real responsibility. Q, WorldStarHipHop.com CEO, also called, saying the real problems are merely technical, blaming overloaded servers.
