Flyers Win One of The Age

We often liken NHL playoff games to chess matches.

Imagine chess on nitrous oxide and you have an idea of the marvel that was Game 2 of this Eastern Conference quarterfinal between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.

This was an absolute blur of action from the moment Sidney Crosby scored 15 seconds into the game to the dying moments when Philadelphia rookie Sean Couturier completed an unlikely hat trick to put the game out of reach. It was a delectable stew of crushing body checks and raw skill that saw the Flyers complete an equally unlikely sweep of the first two games of this series with an 8-5 victory Friday night.

For the second game in a row, the Penguins stormed out of the gate. Crosby's goal tied a franchise record for the fastest goal to start a playoff game as the Flyers got caught trying to make an immediate line change. And when Paul Martin scored with 17.2 seconds left in the first period to give the Pens a 3-1 lead, logic suggested the odds were long that the Flyers would come back for a second straight game.

Uh. No.

In spite of being outscored 6-1 in the first period of this series' first two games, the Flyers proved that they have been wildly undervalued as a Cup contender.

"We're able to come back in a game like that again, I think it speaks volumes about the character in the room not only from the veteran players but the younger players as well," Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said.

"Fighting back like that is not easy. Players were so resilient that it's unbelievable."

Through two games, this series has featured 20 goals and left all of the hype looking somehow inadequate.

Bobby Abreu Indian Trade is Collapsing

On Thursday evening, it turned out, the agreement was closer, that would send Bobby Abreu to the Indians to trade. The same evening, it began to seem less safe. Now, in the late morning of Friday, the contract fell apart, started by John Heyman CBSSports.com has learned.

Interestingly, Heyman says that the deal fell apart, "as he is." Thus, it does not mean, Abreu did not eventually be sold to the Indians, but it is possible, negotiations will be filed for good, too.

With Kendrys Morales to come in terms of health and the Angels have a full field - not to mention the 2011 Rookie of the Year Deputy Mark rams do not have work every day - do not really have a chance to get a lot of Abreu playing time if he remains in place. Mega Million Jackpot hit a World Record $ 640 Million

The already record-setting Mega Millions jackpot soared to $640 million this morning, according to the Mega Millions website.

At 11:49 a.m. the New Jersey Lottery commission's official Twitter page announced, "Tonight's RECORD BREAKING Mega Millions jackpot is now $640 MILLION!" The cash option for the jackpot — the largest ever — is $462 million.

The drawing for the largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history will be held 11 p.m. tonight at WSB-TV in Atlanta.

The odds of one ticket matching five numbers and the Mega Ball and winning the $640 million prize are 1 in 175,711,536.

In Tuesday night's drawing, 47 tickets across the nation — including two in New Jersey — matched five regular numbers but not the Mega ball, according to the Mega Millions website. Each of those tickets is worth $250,000.

The numbers were: 9, 19, 34, 44 and 51. The Mega Ball selected was 24, and the "Megaplier" was 3 for lottery players who plucked down an extra dollar for a shot at bigger prizes.
