Gregory Isaacs, described as "the finest voice in reggae," died at the age of 59 years in London.
Isaacs, who was best known for the song "Night Nurse", released in 1982, died after a "battle" with liver cancer. Friends and relatives of the reggae singer said recently about his illness, which is said to have spread at the same time he was sick:
Only a few days ago Linda Gregory admitted her husband was "not good" but declined further comment.
Singer George Corners said he had spoken recently with Gregory, told the Jamaica Observer: "I do not know exactly what will happen, but I know God can change things. My prayers are with Gregory."
Isaac had a long career and released over 50 albums during her long career of four decades. His most recent album, "Brand New Me", was released in 2008. He is survived by his wife Linda and their children.
