Anne Hathaway has nabbed the coveted female lead against Christian Bale in The Dark Knight stands up, the third and final film in the series of Christopher Nolan's film.
Warner has also revealed that the character of Tom Hardy, who joined the cast last year, will play - Bane.
"I am delighted to work with Tom again and excited to see him give life to our new interpretation of one of the most formidable enemies of Batman," Nolan said in a statement.
"I'm happy to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who is an outstanding addition to our group as we complete our story," added Nolan.
Warner announcement "does not actually name the character of Hathaway as Catwoman and Nolan would not confirm the rumors.
Hathaway was on the list of actresses who have been tested for the role in recent weeks, along with Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley.
The test involved Bale, who had to leave dinner National Board of Review in New York early dinner to attend.
Michelle Pfeiffer played the role of Selina Kyle / Catwoman in Batman Returns by Tim Burton.
The character - as interpreted by Burton - was a meek clerk who turns into power after he was almost killed and left for dead.
Pfeiffer plays her with a mixture of repression and sensuality, and the character became a pop culture sensation.
In his interpretation of the famous comic series, Nolan has been giving its characters a psychological advantage deeper and darker.
