Rep. Danny Davis Stand With The Carol Moseley Braun

Carol Moseley Braun began the new year and his campaign as the only black mayoral candidate to speak before the congregation on Sunday morning at Salem Baptist Church.

Accompanied by his former rival, pastor of the church state Sen. James Meeks and Rep. Danny Davis, Braun was greeted with applause from the audience. Began to voice their concerns for the city of Chicago, including education and safe streets.

"We can not have a divided city, or a divided people, " said Braun. "We must ensure Chicago's future is brighter."

Meeks offer prayers for a "circle of unity in the African American community" and for "all candidates and their families who run this race."

Meeks received a round of applause after adding he hoped "the candidates talk about issues and not each other."

Later, speaking with reporters, Davis reiterated the fact that the resources of money and Braun to bring it into play an issue in his decision to quit the race.

"The logic at some point it is necessary to prevail, " said Davis. "Money is a huge factor. You can not run a top flight campaign without resources."

Braun has allocated $ 5 million for the campaign, including a runoff if necessary.

Braun emphasized that it is running for the entire city.

"We understand the needs of the entire city, " said Braun. "That is a concern overreaching in this campaign."

Braun also questioned residence candidate Rahm Emanuel of Chicago and said flatly: "I do not think Rahm Emanuel lives in Chicago. But there is no doubt that live here."

Braun was scheduled to speak at two churches on Sunday.
