Tom DeLay Past Life In Rehab:From "Dancing With the Stars" To Jail

From "Dancing With the Stars" to jail - that is the fate of the former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
A judge sentenced former Texas congressman three years in prison for conspiring to direct corporate laundered money to Texas candidates in 2002. Last November, a jury found DeLay also guilty of money laundering, and he agreed to 10 years probation instead of five years in prison. Meanwhile, his lawyers are appealing the conviction.
DeLay was convicted of conspiring in 2002 to use his political action committee to send $ 190,000 in corporate contributions to Republican National Committee, which then sends the money to the candidates for the House of Representatives. That year, Republicans gained control of the state legislature for the first time since Reconstruction. This new majority then redrew districts in Texas in Congress in a way that favored the Republicans. In the coming 2004 elections, Republicans defeated five Democratic incumbents in the U.S. House.
So even contemplated jail as DeLay, still proud of his political achievements, but insists he did nothing wrong. During his political career, DeLay has always been a bold partisan - his nickname was "The Hammer" for his ability to enforce party discipline - and not one to walk away from the spotlight.
In the fall of 2009, DeLay competed in the ninth season of "Dancing with the Stars", but had to leave due to injury. If the winds DeLay behind bars, perhaps the grind of your dancing shoes and give a few lessons.
